The collection of steam locomotives at Bredgar is one of the largest and most varied in the UK. The little locomotives had very hard working lives often running in less than ideal conditions. Most arrived disused and neglected and have undergone major overhauls in our workshops to return them to pristine condition. The engines here represent decades of locomotive development, from the oldest ‘Victory’ of 1897 to the newest ‘Jenny’ built in 1991. Now retired to Bredgar they will remain in working order for many years to come giving our visitors not only pleasure but a glimpse of a transport system of yesteryear.
