No1 Bronhilde

No1 Bronhilde is an 0-4-0 well tank built in 1927 by Schwartzkopff in Berlin (works number 9124) for use in the Norddeutsche Affinerie, Europe’s largest copper smelting works, at Hamburg. This company ran steam locos on its extensive internal 60 cm gauge system until 1971; Bronhilde was brought to the UK in 1976 for use at Bressingham Gardens, Norfolk but proved unsuitable for working that line. It was acquired as Bredgar’s first steam loco in 1979. Bronhilde has proved to be a most reliable machine and has operated every season since its arrival.
