No11 Wormshill

This 0-6-0 diesel mechanical locomotive was built by Hudswell, Clarke and Co Ltd at their workshops in Leeds, in 1965 (works number DM13660).
It was mines locomotive and worked underground for the National Coal Board, North East Area at Harden Colliery, Co Durham, England and later at Seaham Colliery. In 1990 it was moved to South Tynedale Railway, Alston, Cumbria, where it was partially restored. In May 1999 it was sent to the Yorkshire Engine Company, Sheffield, England for completion of the the restoration, returning to Alston in October of that year.
During 2002 it was used on passenger trains from time to time on the South Tynedale Railway but from 2003 to 2006 it remained out of service. It was then sold to the BWLR in November 2006, and has been substantially modified to comply with the BWLR’s coach heights before coming into use.
