Steam loco driving
The day starts at 10:00am and ends about 4:15pm.
The day starts with an induction explaining the safety and the basic introduction to the workings of a steam locomotive.
You will then join the instructors for hands on experience all morning before stopping for lunch.
In the afternoon the carriages are coupled up to give the experience of pulling carriages on the line.
Morning and afternoon teas or coffee and a light lunch are provided for driving course participants.
No one needs to get dirty but smuts, coal, oil and grease is around, so a pair of overalls, covering arms (or working clothes), gardening type gloves and sensible shoes are necessary for participants, (best bib and tucker with flip flops - not appropriate!).
Family members and friends are welcome to visit all day, and ride on the carriages in the afternoon.
Alternatively, if you’d rather just sit down in or outside our Tea Room please feel free to use our facilities on the day.
We always have an enjoyable day.
In the afternoon visitors can ride in our carriages and photograph the ‘drivers’ in action on the footplate.
The cost is £400 (inc. VAT) per participant including lunch.
We will contact you for the number of guests 4 weeks before the event.
