At the end of 2024 the ladder truck had a few issues with some tyres deflating. Not fast but consistently enough to be really annoying. Having removed all eight wheels at the back and had them inspected we have concluded that although the issues could be resolved, the tyres are getting closer to their “sell by or use by” date. The rear hubs and brakes have been fully overhauled and for the moment the wheels refitted. The front wheels have been removed and the brakes are being overhauled. The tyres were replace alone a few thousand miles ago and are in a very good condition.
The ladder and hydraulics are due for inspection in a couple of months so that is also receiving attention. Two cable pullies were showing excessive wear and unfortunately we couldn’t source replacements. Tony, our engineer has made and replaced them. The final task is to adjust and balance the cables ready for the ladder to be used at the May event.
