Our Brouhot 6HP portable engine has been on restriction for a couple of year and this winter we really had to get it taken apart and overhauled. The covers off and the valves and pipes removed we were able to get a really good look. It was a lot better than we had feared with the fire box and barrel being in very good condition. The tubes however were another story. These were removed and work cleaning everything up got underway. See previous report.
Painting or the barrel and firebox is now nearly complete – although it won’t be seen with the covers on it is important protection. The tube plate at the front is being prepared to receive the new tubes which will arrive this in early May. Still a lot of work to do but we expect this to be ready to steam by July at the latest. We would like to thank our volunteers who have worked hard on this. It is dirty hard work in cramped condition. Also a special “thank you” to one volunteer who had funded the new tubes – not a small “investment”.
