Diesel locomotive Bredgar into workshop

The last time we did any extensive work on this locomotives engine and frame was probabl 20 years ago.  Now the engine mountings have failed and brake shoes worn.  Having removed one we were able to identify it and discovered the same part is use on some Barford dumper trucks.  We managed to get replacements quickly however further inspection revealed that some of the frame mountings were a bit “agricultural” and we are now working on getting these to a more precice standard.

Failed mounting.                                Frame mount                                     New mounting in new housing        Old frame housing

The brake shoes are all steel and fortunatly, we have some replacements in stock.

We are working hard to get this locomotive back in service for the summer holiday diesel train.
